2022 Ford Bronco Sport
In 2021, Ford brought the capable Bronco back into its lineup, along with a smaller version known as the Bronco Sport. This budget-friendly SUV can handle rough terrain and boasts unique exterior styling to help it stand out in a sea of competitors.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is a compact SUV that comes in four trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands. From the outside, this model shows off bold styling with an available two-tone paint job and an aggressive front end. The Base trim also includes roof rails, LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, and a rear liftgate with a flip-up rear window and unique lighting elements. Stepping up to the Big Bend trim adds heated side mirrors and tinted glass.
With the Outer Banks trim, standard features include heated and rain-sensing wipers, LED fog lights, 18-inch wheels, and remote engine start. At the top of the list, the Badlands trim is best-equipped for off-roading with all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, and underbody skid plates.
Engine (Power)
The lower three trim levels come with an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. The Badlands trim has a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. All models come standard with Ford's all-wheel-drive system.
Performance
The Bronco Sport is one of the only models in its segment to come standard with all-wheel drive, putting it ahead of the pack. It also boasts impressive driving performance in various conditions, with precise steering and a responsive brake system. In speed testing, a model equipped with the upgraded engine went from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, which also puts it near the top of the class.
Interior
Within the cabin of the Base trim, you'll find manually adjustable seats with cloth upholstery, manual climate control, and a six-speaker audio system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration and an 8-inch touch screen. The Big Bend adds a few creature comforts, such as automatic climate control, upgraded stain-resistant upholstery, and satellite radio.
If you want a more luxurious ride, check out the Outer Banks trim. It comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, and heated front seats. It's also available with a package that bundles HD radio, a wireless device charging pad, a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and a universal garage door opener. The Badlands trim has its own feature, such as rubber floors, cloth upholstery, and rear-seat underfloor storage on the passenger side.
Safety Features
All four trim levels of the 2022 Bronco Sport come with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of active driver aids. This suite bundles automatic high beams, forward-collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and a rearview camera. You can also outfit the SUV with options like rear parking sensors and a 180-degree camera system. The optional Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package bundles navigation, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist.
