2022 Ford Transit Connect
The Ford Transit Connect is the smaller cousin to the Transit and is ideal for maneuvering through city traffic and parking in challenging spots. This compact van comes with a short or long wheelbase and has numerous options for the cargo vans. The passenger vans seat six or seven people.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Depending on how you plan to use your Transit Connect, you have two cargo van trims and three passenger van trims to choose from — the XL Cargo Van, XLT Cargo Van, XL Passenger Van, XLT Passenger Van, and the Titanium Passenger Van. The short wheelbase Transit Connect has a length of 174.2 inches, and the longer wheelbase version is 190 inches long.
You can get the Transit Connect with a rear liftgate or split rear doors. Any trim of the cargo or passenger van can come equipped with available dual-sliding side doors. The driver and front passenger will have plenty of visibility with the high windshield, and the passenger vans have large viewing windows for the second and third rows.
Engine (Power)
You have two engine options for your Ford Transit Connect. All trims come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 164 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque. This engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For more power, choose the optional 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 169 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission completes the powertrain for the latter engine.
Performance
Rear-wheel drive comes standard across the Transit Connect lineup. You'll notice how well this van handles with its independent front MacPherson struts, twist-beam rear suspension system, and electric power-assisted steering. All trims come with hill-start assist and a side-wind stabilization system. When properly equipped, your Ford Transit Connect can tow up to 2,000 pounds with a maximum payload capacity of 1,510 pounds for the short wheelbase and up to 1,550 pounds for the long-wheelbase variation.
Interior
When you choose the cargo van versions of the Transit Connect, there's seating for two people. The passenger vans have seating for six people with second-row captain's chairs. With the available second-row bench seat, the vans can hold seven people. The lower trims of both the cargo and passenger vans come with cloth seats, and the two upper trims of the passenger vans have leather-trimmed seats. In addition, the XLT and Titanium passenger vans come with heated front seats, rear-seat climate control, and carpeted floor coverings. All-weather mats are optional.
All trims except the XL versions of the Transit Connect come with Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration come standard, as does Bluetooth, voice-activated navigation, smart-charge USB ports, and a wireless charging pad.
Safety Features
Whether you're hauling cargo for your business or transporting people, the Ford Transit Connect comes with curve control, AdvanceTrac roll stability control, and a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The passenger vans come with safety canopy side air bags. Available driver-assist features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
